Tonight I Chased a Beaver

There's a different route I take home from work sometimes when traffic is bad or if I want to drive by the liquor store and think about stopping.  There is a lake on this route and there have been geese on the lake for almost 2 months now and since I'm dating Davey Crocket and have recently become a pared-down female version of that, I too enjoy scoping out the wildlife.  So there were geese on the side of the road, two to be exact.  I was approaching them and suddenly I saw something round and brown sticking out of the weeds...I didn't have my glasses on so I coudn't tell exactly what it was until I drove right past it...it was a BEAVER!  Since I couldn't slam on my brakes in the middle of the road (and risk frightening Beaver!) I drove around the block, which was actually more like 4 blocks.  I was afraid that Beaver would be gone but I crept up slowly on the side of the road...and Beaver was still there!  Just as I almost had the car to a complete stop, we made eye contact and Beaver dove back into the lake before I could try to snap a picture.  Damn it, Beaver!  He was a small beaver, I would say about the size of Neurotic Dog. (Rosie)  I continued my trek home, disappointed but determined to take this route every single day until I see Beaver again.  I picked up Neurotic Dog and we went to the Original House of Wong (my parents house!) to visit and drop off something for my mom.  I stayed for a bit and hung out with my sister and nephews, while getting schooled in human anatomy by a four year old.  I think he'll be a doctor some day.  On my way home, which is only about a mile and a half from my parents place, I passed THREE cops.  On a Wednesday night?  Odd.  And then two GIANT does jumped out in front of my car.  Of course they would, because I drive the Critter Magnet that BEGS wildlife to run head-first into it, with as much force as possible.  And when I finally made it home, the turkey's that live across the street were strutting back and forth in my neighbors driveway, all cocky as if they knew that I couldn't shoot them.  Ughh.  It was a strange night in Lakeville, indeed.
