Ashro?
Last week I got the mail and there was a catalog with my name on it. The catalog is called Ashro. There's a picure of a nice lady on the cover in what looks like an outfit that you would wear to Sunday church service if you lived in the deep south. And a matching hat. Not exactly my cup of tea but very classy, very nice. I just tossed it on the counter and figured I would look at it later. A few days ago my roomie picked it up and flipped through it and although I don't remember her exact words, she basically asked me if I ordered this catalog on purpose. I said no, I don't remember signing up for it but whatever, I'll check it out later. Fast forward to right this second and I'm organizing the kitchen counter so I can make dinner and I come across the catalog. Oh yes, the strange catalog with the nice lady on the cover. So I scope it out. I certainly don't want to offend anyone but I guess I just have to come right out and say it. I think this catalog is for black ladies. Why do I think this? Because every single model in the catalog is African American and looks like Michelle Obama or Hoda Kotb. Some outfits look like something Queen Latifah would wear, if Queen Latifah wanted to revisit the 90's, while others are very modern and feminine. I've never heard of spirit buckle sandles, aiko tunics, and caftans. (There's one sleek black jumpsuit that I might wear if I was 50 pounds lighter and a real housewife of Atlanta but I'm neither of those things so I guess I have to pass. Dang it, it's cute) I looked at every single page of the catalog, all 95 of them. I was intruiged and interested in these bold colors and powerfull prints! But I don't go anywhere that would warrent me having to clean up so nice and put on a fancy outfit. I go hunting and fishing and to the bar. That's it. (well work, but I have a uniform for that; the gravedigger's outfit, I like to call it.) So then I Googled Ashro and discovered that they also sell mens clothes, wigs, and they have their own record label. How interesting! I like to mess around with different hairstyles so I checked out the wigs, that come in synthetic hair or real hair; they have interesting names like Adventurous Annie, Sumptuous Stefania, and Intriguing Neenee. I like Neenee, she has a splash of blue in the front of her hair. The wigs are reasonably priced, so I know where to look if I'm ever in need of a new look. (Not going to lie, Classy Yvette looks a little cracked out, which would explain why she's on sale for $29.95) I'm not sure how or why this catalog came across my countertop but I'm glad it did. It saved me from a night of dreary homework but distracted me from the fact that I'm missing The Voice right now so I must say adios! (did I sound much like a fashion editor just then? I didn't think so either. I tried.)
